Settlement Programs

The Settlement Program at the Canadian Multiple Service Centre (CMSC) provides vital, hands-on support to newcomers navigating their new lives in Alberta and across Canada. Through personalized one-on-one counseling sessions, we guide individuals and families through essential processes such as applying for the Canada Child Benefit, securing government-assisted housing, and completing critical government documentation.

Our team works diligently to ensure that each client receives the tailored assistance they need to build a stable and successful foundation in their new community. In cases where a particular service falls outside the scope of our offerings, we go the extra mile to connect clients with trusted, appropriate service providers to ensure no one is left unsupported.

At CMSC, we also understand the challenges newcomers face when integrating into the Canadian workforce. Our Employment Program is specifically designed to support job seekers—particularly those new to Alberta—by equipping them with essential employment readiness skills. These include resume and cover letter development, effective job search strategies, and practical training in the use of modern technology and online job platforms. We also provide guidance on navigating the Canadian workplace culture, helping individuals gain the confidence and tools they need to enter and thrive in the job market.

Through these interconnected programs, CMSC is committed to empowering newcomers with the knowledge, skills, and support networks necessary for long-term success and meaningful integration.

Conducting needs assessments for newly arrived individuals and families
Helping clients obtain SIN numbers, secure housing, open bank accounts, and access healthcare cards, and applying for CCB (Canada Child Benefit).
Providing orientation sessions on life in Canada (rights, responsibilities, public services).
Assisting with school enrollment for children and access to childcare.
Offering interpretation and translation support.
Referring clients to local resources and community organizations.
